Since the dawn of civilization people have sought to extend the quality and quantity of life. Indeed, the prospect of immortality has always had universal appeal, spurring Alexander the Great andPonce de León to search for the legendary Fountain of Youth. 1513 Juan Ponce de León arrived in Florida with 3 ships and 200 armed men seeking gold. Historians think that Ponce de León may have been searching for a landmark where local native legends told of a medicine spring where gold and healing waters flowed from an ancient fountain. He believed this "Fountain of Youth" would lead him to the city of gold (Eldorado). Recently at Lithia Springs the ancient ruins of a fountain have been discovered. This ancient fountain is only a few miles away fros the city of Villa Rica, the site of America's earliest gold rush. If Ponce de León had found Lithia Springs he may have discovered the gold he sought and the Fountain of Youth. Recent scientific research conducted on lithia water suggests that this rare class of mineral water may extend both health and life span (see below). There is a real historic Fountain of Youth that waits for you in every bottle of LITHIA.

A research paper recently published by Professor Dr. Michael Ristow's team along with Japanese colleagues from universities in Oita and Hiroshima have demonstrated by two independent approaches that even a low concentration of lithium found in Lithia waters*, can lead to an increased life expectancy in humans as well as in a model organism, the roundworm Caenorhabditis elegans.
In a collaborative effort with Japanese colleagues, the scientists analyzed the mortality rate in 18 adjacent Japanese municipalities in relation to the amount of lithium contained in Lithia bearing spring water from the respective regions. "We found that the mortality rate was considerably lower in those municipalities with more lithium in the drinking water", Ristow explains the key finding. In a second experiment, the scientists examined exactly this range of concentration in the model organism C. elegans. The result was confirmed: "The average longevity of the worms is higher after they have been treated with lithium bearing water at this dosage", Ristow says.

The scientists speculate about using low-dose lithium mineral water as a potential dietary supplement in the future. "From previous studies we know already that a higher uptake of lithium through Lithia drinking water is associated with an improvement of psychological well-being and a decreased suicide rates", Professor Ristow explains.

Lithia waters found to increase life spans - February 2011

The following articles report the findings of a new study by German researchers who measured the effects of lithia water on longevity.

Researchers' conclusion:
"these findings raise the possibility that readily available low-dose Lithium supplementation at non-toxic doses may not only promote mental health and impair suicide risk but also may reduce overall mortality in humans."- Zarse et al.

Today, at Lithia Springs Ga, you can speak to anyone who grew up in the local area and they may tell you many stories of people they know who have lived long healthy lives because they drank LITHIA.

When you visit the historic springs you will see for yourself many amazing ancient wonders and mysteries that include a giant 25 foot Smiling Turtle that has stood guard over an ancient medicine spring for thousands of years. If you look closely at the Smiling Turtle you will notice that it has human features (anthropomorphic) indicating that it is more than a guardian for it is also a messenger. This messenger imparts upon the living a message, "it is here at this ancient healing spring that you will find long life and health." The fountain of youth is in every bottle of LITHIA.
